The Do's & Don'ts of Proposals During the Holidays
Updated: Oct 14, 2021
Tis' the holiday season for love. December is known as a popular month for couples to get engaged.
We have put together a few tips below to help you prepare a proposal to your partner.
1. DON'T wait until last minute to plan the proposal.
There are a lot of details involved in planning a proposal. Such as picking a date, location, who to involve in the proposal, what to wear and most importantly selecting/ purchasing the rings. This can be overwhelming, so start the planning process early, such as at least one month in advance.
2. DO ask for help!
Yes! Do ask for help, especially if it does end up being a last minute proposal. Make sure you seek help from a trusted friend or family member. We would suggest someone who is supportive of your ideas for personalizing the proposal and is able to keep a secret, very important!
3. DO hire a photographer.
You definitely want to capture every moment of this proposal so you and your partner can look back on this memorable day! The photographer will capture all the details that may go unseen as you and your partner may be wrapped up in the moment.
4. DO consider your partner's interest.
It is important to consider your partner's interest in how they may want their marriage proposal to be like. Example of some factors to consider are :
- would your partner want a private , intimate setting or do they prefer family and friends to be present ?
- would your partner want the proposal outdoors on a rooftop or indoors at a restaurant ?
- would your partner want a holiday proposal or not ? (may sound like a nice idea, but not a preference for many)
5. DO make the moment private!
We do agree that there should be some privacy to the proposal. The couple should always have some time to express themselves and take in the moment before sharing it with family and friends, especially if they are present at the proposal, as well. It's A moment that happens once for many, so it should be a special experience for the couple.
6. DON'T Panic!
You should try to stay as relaxed as possible on the day of the proposal. Especially important to ask for help on this day. Having the extra help eliminates you having to manage the details of the proposal which prevents you from panicking and focus on your proposal speech!
